Are you ready to Present?

Whether you are new to presenting - in person or virtually - the DIG Expo 2021 invites proposals for presentations, forums, workshops and discussions! 

Join us as we explore the exciting new theme: ”The power of you.”

Goal of the Conference

This Expo seeks to provide available resources, services, and demonstration of current technologies of accessibility, career advancement, networking, and job opportunities, to build a bridge to collaborate with available resources, companies for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees from all levels of government. Other attendees may include those who work with Deaf and Hard of Hearing employees; such as, human resource managers, Equal Employment Opportunity specialists, agency representatives, supervisors, and hearing colleagues. The audience ranges from new professionals to professionals in all government-related fields (from IT professionals to financial analysts) with more than ten years of experience.

Presentation Proposals

Presentation proposals for concurrent sessions and large sessions should address the innovation in accessibility and services used in working with Deaf, Deaf/Blind, and Hard of Hearing employees in the Federal Government settings.  We encourage you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to share your knowledge, talents, and expertise with other Federal employees.  By sharing your knowledge and successes, you will be able to positively impact the lives of government colleagues and professionals, who will in turn influence the lives of others.

Submitted proposals should include learning objectives and references that will help in applying their knowledge for conference attendees.

Proposals for concurrent sessions should be for 60-90 minutes long.  The deadline for submitting proposals is Sunday, January 31, 2021.

Submit a Presentation

We will have three workshop tracks for three areas:

  1. Accessibility Innovation
  2. Management and Leadership Skills
  3. Technical and Professional Skills

Possible proposal topics are listed, but are not limited to, those listed below:

Career Development; Financial Management; Information Technology; Career Advancement; Cultural Diversity/Heritage; How to Work with Interpreters; EEO Institute/EEO Personnel; Human Resources Management; Deafhood; Diversity and Inclusion; Understanding the Use of Schedule A; Toastmaster Skills; Facilitation Skills; Project Management; and Teamwork.

Process for Submitting Proposals

Submit a Presentation

  1. The workshop title (10 words or less).
  2. A brief (2-page max) description of the workshop topic and content.
  3. Identity of the DIG EXPO category/track that the workshop addresses.
  4. The names, postal addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of the organizers, with one-paragraph statements of their research interests and/or areas of expertise.
  5. A Website address, if any, with information on the workshop.
  6. Develop a brief abstract of the presentation, not to exceed to 125 words. If accepted, this description will be included in the program book.
  7. Briefly describe how your presentation ties into the conference theme.
  8. Briefly describe experience, qualifications, or credentials which reflect your expertise for the intended presentation topic.
  9. Submit a summary, not to exceed 500 words, of the proposed presentation for review by the planning committee. This summary should include a minimum of three learning objectives, include a short biography (up to 125 words) for each presenter.
  10. Workshop sessions will be 60 minutes long.

Selected presenters will be receiving complimentary after the event. Presenters will be responsible for their own travel, lodging, meals and incidental expenses. Audio and visual equipment will be provided for Powerpoint presentations.
