Town Hall Meeting

Dear DIG community,

We appreciate the passion that all of you have for Deaf In Government (DIG) and look forward to collaborating with all of you to continue the work of DIG towards better opportunities for all of us within government agencies.

We are continuing to strive for full transparency and engagement to ensure we earn and keep your trust and support. Toward this goal, the DIG Board has been hard at work reviewing and preparing Board minutes and financial reports to share with our members and the community. We have made some progress and will soon post those minutes and reports for the last two years. We are sharing this information ahead of any Town Hall meeting, and also to be better prepared to answer any questions that any of you might have regarding DIG as an organization.

Thank you for your patience, and we are pleased to announce that we will host a two hour Town Hall meeting via Zoom on:

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22 AT 7 PM ET / 6 PM CT / 5 PM MT / 4 PM PT / 3 PM AK / 2 PM HI

Please sign up for this Zoom meeting at: Meeting Registration

All members are welcome and can submit questions in advance to be answered during the meeting, and we ask that you submit the questions either online at Submit Questions or by sending an email with “Town Hall Questions” in the subject heading to contact@deafingov.org by Tuesday, October 15th at 11:59 PM ET. Questions can be asked during the Zoom meeting, but we will answer questions submitted ahead of time first in order of receipt and relevancy.

We will not permit questions or comments that attack any individual. The goal of this meeting is to focus on the status and future of DIG. It is not productive for any organization to engage in any blame or criticism of individuals, and it is our goal to restore transparency and trust so that we can move forward together towards more rights for all deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, late-deafened, and hard of hearing government employees.

We also want to thank and recognize Paige Thompson for her service on the DIG Board, especially her recent service as DIG President from June to September 2024. She has now left the DIG Board, and Vice President Jeremy Sebest became President on September 4, 2024. At the present time, the Board consists of President Jeremy Sebest, Business Manager/Treasurer James Powell, and Members at Large Florence Rapozo, Rob Tackie and Chad Bishop.

Pursuant to the DIG Bylaws, we are due to have an election for specific positions in 2024 with two months notice. Consequently, we are announcing that an election will take place on Zoom on December 1, 2024 (the time and link will be shared soon). Please submit your interest in serving on the Board in the capacities of Business Manager/Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Communication Manager, and two Members at Large positions. The other positions on the Board are up for election in 2025. Send your interest either online at Nomination Form or by sending an email with “Board Position Interest” in the subject heading to contact@deafingov.org between now and November 1, 2024.

Thank you all for your support and patience as we move forward.

The DIG Board

Jeremy Sebest, President
James Powell, Business Manager
Florence Rapozo, Member at Large
Rob Tackie, Member at Large
Chad Bishop, Member at Large
