DIG 2023 Board Positions are Now Open!

Do you want to apply your talents to the growth of a membership organization?

Deaf in Government, a nonprofit organization, is looking for emerging leaders to take on volunteer roles on its Board of Directors. It serves as an employee support group for local, state, and federal employees who are either Deaf or Hard of Hearing and as a resource organization for the government.

We are holding an election for five (5) DIG Board positions: President, Vice President, and Member-At-Large. Each position is described in detail below.

The self-nomination period will be open from April 19 to May 26, 2023 at 5 PM Eastern Time. Read for specific instructions to submit your self-nomination for the position. This nomination will be used in our ballot during the election.

The Election and Annual Meeting will be held at DIG’s National Training Conference at American University on Friday, June 16, 2023.

Board Positions:
The DIG board has nine (9) voting board members. According to the DIG bylaws, this is an odd year, and the following positions are up for election.  Only active DIG members may apply for a board position.

President
Vice President
Member-At-Large (3)

How to Submit an Application
To submit an application, please complete the nomination form. Please submit one application for each position you are interested in.

Open 2023 Board Positions

PRESIDENT
Direct Supervisor: Executive Board and all board members

General Operations:
Preside at all meetings of the Board and shall serve as the Chairman of the Board.

VICE PRESIDENT
Indirect Supervisor: Executive Board and all board members

General Operations:
Be the presiding officer in the absence of the President.
Act as the assistant to the president.
Act as liaison and advisor to the Board of Directors and its Committees.

MEMBER-AT-LARGE (3)

General Operations:
Members-at-Large represent the interests of the General Membership on the Board. They may take responsibility for activities on the basis of interest or at the request of the Board or President, serve on standing or ad hoc committees, and handle special projects.
